MARIE'S LOCAL TIPS
Which place do you find the most inspiring in Monaco?
I love the cultural events in Monaco and attend Ballet and Philharmonic Orchestra events from time to time. It is inspiring for such a small principality to have so many cultural activities. There are always exciting art exhibitions, the museums, Opera, ballet and music. You will never be bored.
Your favorite restaurants ?
I like Maya Bay for Thai and Japanese food, it is always lively and popular. The food is good too!
Also, lunch on the terrace of Le Vistamar restaurant in the Hermitage Hotel is excellent and the
view of the Port and Palace in the distance spectacular. They have a Business lunch menu for 59
euros which includes 2 courses and a glass of wine which is very good value for a Michelin starred restaurant.
Your secret to stay in shape?
I run by the sea on the coastal path from Monaco to Menton every morning. It is a wonderful run and I never tire of those sea views. I would also recommend Thirty Nine a new members only club in Monaco that has wonderful Personal Trainers and a state of the art gym.
One of your little daily pleasures ?
I hike in the hills behind Monaco with my dogs. There are some wonderful trails and you can hike without seeing anyone during the week. A picnic hike is such a relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
A local artist you admire ?
My friend Christine Franchescini is a talented artist who lives in Monaco. I have one of her
paintings on my wall and love her work. She exhibits in many countries and is a wonderful artist.
Your secret addresses to share with our Little Big Monaco reader?
This is not a secret but I love having a glass of Champagne in the American
Bar of the Hotel de Paris in the early evening. They have live music and it makes for a wonderful
pre dinner aperitif.
