LITTLE BIG PORTRAIT of JULIA BURG
Julia Burg, is the founder of the luxury and lifestyle blog Ohmyhype. Not only Julia has a successful blog and close to 11K followers on Instagram, but she is also in charge of PR at the glamorous Amber Lounge which is hosting VIP events for Grand Prix around the world including the Monaco Grand Prix. Diving into her big blue eyes, we talked about blogging, traveling and of course local tips!
Born and raised in Paris, Julia worked in PR and communication for famous brands such as L'Oréal, Fauchon, or Perrier Jouët for 10 years. In 2005 she decided to move to the Cote d’Azur, attracted by the warm climate a more relaxed way of life. The beauty of the area and the Monaco lifestyle were the perfect opportunity for her to re-launch a blog she had started when in Paris but that she had not updated in a while. She teamed up with another digital fan, Kirill Logachev alias @atercervus and the blog Ohmyhype was born. The idea is to offer curated content about travel, food, fashion and lifestyle in Monaco and in the Cote d’Azur for locals who are always looking for new and exciting things to do but also for tourists. Travelling a lot for her glamorous work at Amber Lounge, Julia reports that everywhere she goes, people are always curious to hear about the Principality.
A blogger’s life
“I am a true social network addict,” she laughs. “I spend a lot of time on Instagram looking for new inspiring accounts and for my travel inspiration I use Instagram now more than Google! “ She admits spending a lot of time on her blog so she is particularly proud when she get compliments about it. “People don’t realize the time it takes“ she says. We definitely agree on that! However, Julia truly enjoys it and she likes that it allows her to meet new interesting people and discover new places.
As usual when we meet local bloggers, we cannot help asking for advice and Julia gave us the below:
-Be different! Don’t try to reproduce what has already be done.
-It is key that you learn how the social network works and what matters in their algorithm.
-Keep testing different things
-Last but not least…you need to spend time on your blog! Give it some love!
OUR QUESTIONS TO JULIA BURG
Which place do you find the most inspiring in Monaco?
The place I find the most inspiring is not in Monaco but it offers the best view on the principality. It is the Tête de chien in la Turbie. You can go there by car of you can walk there if you like to hike. On one side you have a wonderful view of Monaco and on the other side you can see Cap D'ail and Eze, I love take pictures there for my blog and my Instagram account. But I also go there just to enjoy the view at sunset. it is the perfect place for a romantic pic nic.
Your favourite restaurants ?
My favourite restaurant is definitely the Maya Bay- On the terrace for Japanese food or inside for some delicious Thai food. The decoration is as good as the food. I am also a great fan of the terrrace of the Metropole hotel. It has a timeless ambiance and I like its private roof top vibe. I have been invited to the reopening of the Grill at the hotel de Paris and i totally fell in love with its view on the harbour and the casino. And their vanilla souffle is probably the best I have ever eaten.
A secret to stay in shape?
A friend recently gave me an anti-aging tip that i am trying to follow on a daily basis: drink some water with lime freely. I can really see the impact on my skin. On the beauty cream side, I have discovered the SunSun product and I am totally addicted. Their organic self tanning spray contains aloe vera, it is great!. I am also using the products of the japanese brand Kazumasa Kawasaki which philosophy is to take care of oneself inside as much as outside. Their ultra-premium super powder food give me more energy and improve the way my skin looks like. And of course a bit of make up and some beautiful jewels like those from the Charriol brand of which i really like the bracelets and that's it! In my handbag, I always have Oila wipe for re-hydration, especially after an afternoon at the beach. To stay fit, I try to run on a regular basis but I mainly do exercises for my back, my abdominals and my well being.
One of your daily pleasures?
Having everything close by, the blue sky, the sun, the sea, this is pure bliss.
Local artists you admire?
There are a few of them but if I need to pick one, I would choose @bylbe a talented handbag designer, I have some many of her pieces in my wardrobe. I order them directly from her facebook page. Shtoica a designer who makes modern and smart clothes and also Philippe Pasqua who is not local but whose work is currently shown at the oceanographic museum in Monaco.
